BIG NEWS FOR SUPPORT AT HOME
From 1 October 2026, an important change has come into effect for older Australians receiving Support at Home.
Approved personal care is now fully funded by the Australian Government, meaning participants will not pay an out-of-pocket contribution for approved personal care services when personal care is included in their Support at Home plan and they have available Support at Home funding.
Personal care can include:
Showering
Dressing
Eating assistance
Non-clinical continence support
Personal hygiene
Assistance with self-administration of medication
What does this mean?
Personal care remains part of your Support at Home plan and budget. The change removes the participant contribution for approved personal care services delivered from 1 October 2026.
Other Support at Home services, such as domestic assistance and gardening, may still have participant contributions.
If you or a family member receives Support at Home and you’re unsure how this change may affect your current services, speak with Roy at Caremore Support Services.
